TechNoviceTools — Danger Room Obstacle Course

The X-Men: Danger Room Roster

Seven mutants. Seven bios. One training ground for your DevTools superpowers. Use this page as your obstacle course — read it, inspect it, change it.

Your Mission

This page is your Danger Room. The HTML and CSS are exactly what you see — no frameworks, no JavaScript. Every element on this page is a target. Your DevTools are your weapons. Choose a session from the guidelines and engage:

  1. HTML Session: Edit text nodes, change attributes, add new elements to a bio section.
  2. CSS Session: Change the body background color, swap the gold accent, resize the bio images.
  3. JavaScript Session: Change a heading via Console, override the page title, target all <li> elements at once.
  4. Bootstrap Session: Not applicable here — this page uses no Bootstrap, which is itself the lesson.

Beast — Hank McCoy

Beast (Hank McCoy) in his blue furred form
“I am a man of science and faith. I see no contradiction in that.” — Dr. Henry McCoy

Dr. Henry “Hank” McCoy is one of the founding members of the X-Men and Xavier’s most brilliant pupil. Born with oversized hands and feet, Hank’s mutation eventually manifested as blue fur, fangs, and claws — transforming the already-extraordinary scientist into a figure as formidable physically as he is intellectually. He holds doctorates in biophysics and biochemistry and has served as both an Avenger and a member of the X-Men’s inner council.

Mutant Powers

  • Superhuman strength, agility, and endurance
  • Enhanced senses: smell, hearing, night vision
  • Wall-climbing and acrobatic movement
  • Rapid healing and decelerated aging

Notable Moments

  1. Founding member of the original X-Men under Charles Xavier

Cyclops — Scott Summers

Cyclops (Scott Summers) wearing his red visor
“I do what I must. That’s all any of us can do.” — Scott Summers

Scott Summers was the first student recruited by Charles Xavier and has served as field commander of the X-Men for most of his life. His mutant power — optic blasts of concussive force energy — is uncontrollable without his ruby quartz visor or contact lenses, which he must wear at all times. This burden has shaped Scott into a disciplined, mission-focused leader who places the safety of the team above everything, including himself.

Mutant Powers

  • Fires powerful concussive force blasts from his eyes
  • Cannot control his power without ruby quartz lenses
  • Exceptional tactical and strategic mind
  • Master martial artist and hand-to-hand combatant

Notable Moments

  1. First student recruited by Professor Charles Xavier
  2. Led the X-Men through countless global crises

Gambit — Remy LeBeau

Gambit (Remy LeBeau) with a charged playing card
“The name’s Gambit — and I don’t play fair.” — Remy LeBeau

Remy LeBeau was raised by the Thieves’ Guild in New Orleans before being taken in by the X-Men. His charming Cajun personality and trademark playing cards make him one of the most beloved characters in X-Men history. He can kinetically charge any object, turning an ordinary playing card into a small explosive. His on-again, off-again romance with Rogue — the woman who cannot touch anyone without absorbing their power — is one of Marvel’s most poignant love stories.

Mutant Powers

  • Charges objects with explosive kinetic energy
  • Hypnotic charm — subtly influences others’ emotions
  • Master acrobat, thief, and martial artist
  • Expert with a bo staff and thrown projectiles

Notable Moments

Jean Grey — Marvel Girl / Phoenix

Jean Grey channeling her Phoenix Force powers
“The Phoenix is not something I fear. It is something I am.” — Jean Grey

Jean Grey is an Omega-level mutant and one of the most powerful beings in the Marvel universe. She was the youngest of Xavier’s original students and is both a telepath and a telekinetic of extraordinary ability. When she bonded with the Phoenix Force — a cosmic entity of infinite power — she became something beyond human or mutant. Her sacrifice to save her teammates remains one of the defining moments in X-Men history, and her legacy shapes the team to this day.

Mutant Powers

Rogue — Anna Marie

Rogue (Anna Marie) in her green and yellow costume
“Touch me and you’re out cold, sugah.” — Rogue

Anna Marie — known only as Rogue — has one of the most tragic mutant gifts in the X-Men’s roster. A simple touch of her bare skin absorbs another person’s memories, personality, and powers, leaving them unconscious. She cannot turn it off. Having spent years with the Brotherhood of Mutants before defecting to the X-Men, Rogue carries the weight of every life she has touched, including a permanent set of super-strength and flight absorbed from Carol Danvers (Ms. Marvel).

Mutant Powers

  • Absorbs memories, personality, and powers through skin contact
  • Permanent super-strength and invulnerability (from Ms. Marvel)
  • Permanent supersonic flight (from Ms. Marvel)
  • Can absorb multiple power sets simultaneously

Notable Moments

  1. Defected from the Brotherhood of Mutants to join the X-Men
  2. Permanently absorbed Ms. Marvel’s powers in a desperate confrontation
  3. Her romance with Gambit became one of Marvel’s most celebrated stories
  4. Eventually learned to control her power, choosing when to absorb

Storm (Ororo Munroe) with lightning and white hair
“I am the wind and the rain. I am the storm.” — Ororo Munroe

Ororo Munroe was born to an American photojournalist and a Kenyan princess, orphaned in Cairo, and raised as a thief before her weather-control powers emerged. Worshipped as a goddess in the Serengeti, she was eventually recruited by Charles Xavier and has served as both a field member and team leader of the X-Men. She is one of the most powerful mutants alive, capable of affecting weather patterns on a planetary scale, and has also served as Queen of Wakanda.

Mutant Powers

Wolverine — Logan

Wolverine (Logan) with his adamantium claws extended
“I’m the best there is at what I do. But what I do best isn’t very nice.” — Logan

Logan — age unknown, real name James Howlett — was born in 19th-century Canada with bone claws and a healing factor that has allowed him to survive over a century of war, experimentation, and tragedy. The Weapon X program bonded indestructible adamantium to his entire skeleton, including his claws, transforming an already-lethal mutant into something even more dangerous. Despite this, Logan has chosen to be a teacher and protector at Xavier’s school, his gruff exterior concealing a deep sense of honor.

Mutant Powers

  • Accelerated healing factor that repairs nearly any wound
  • Retractable bone claws (three per hand) coated in adamantium
