2. Notice the top row of disks: In 8 steps the disks have been rotated 180 degrees. In another 8 steps, they are back with red on top and black on bottom. This tells you an increment by which each disk is rotated in the nested loop that generates the disks
3. The grid tells you the dimensions of each disk
