PHP is a server-side language, and we like to think that it's a genie who responds to certain commands that magically make our websites work.
Since the code lives in the server (think, restricted 'Cave of Wonders') you can't get to it without specific permission (or magic).
PHP is a magical genie whose command is our wish...and the wishes are unrestricted! You just gotta say the magic words...
