'Lorem Ipsum' engines (and others like it) allow a developer to insert 'filler/dummy text' into the fabric of a webpage when concentrating on the layout, not the content of the page.
How about an example?
Here's an example from a commonly-used site: lipsum.com:
Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit. Nunc viverra dapibus sem sit amet egestas. Proin et nibh eu enim molestie malesuada quis ut est. Duis in nisl sit amet sem facilisis malesuada. In libero enim, porta ac vestibulum a, pulvinar at turpis. Suspendisse massa dui, congue in fringilla sed, imperdiet at orci. Duis ullamcorper iaculis fermentum. Interdum et malesuada fames ac ante ipsum primis in faucibus. Proin in vehicula eros, sit amet porttitor erat.
Because such 'gibberish' triggers the spell-checker in development software, some clever folks have come up with alternative engines that use regular English words arranged randomly. A couple of our favorites include a Chrome extension ('Corporate Ipsum'), Cupcake Ipsum and Bacon Ipsum.
