Any computer science student will tell you how important sorting information is. (At least, they should!). If we attempt to find information before it has been organized, we're in for a rude awakening. Therefore, although we might get out of sorts, we have to put stuff in order.

Once things are organized, how do we find the proverbial 'needle' in the 'haystack?' A linear search is easy to understand but painfully inefficient.
