Processing Apps
A visually-oriented coding platform
Check out these apps that showcase our latest discovery: the coding platform, Processing. It's free! and it allows you to 'sketch' your designs in JavaScript, Python and Java!
In the hero area of each app, you'll see a tiny icon: It will take you to a reference page in JavaScript Processing where you can look up features you are curious about.
To accomodate mobile devices, the drawing area size will shrink when the device width is less than 600 pixels.
If a size shift happens, you must refresh the page or your previous art work will look weird. However, you will lose your work if the page is refreshed. Just say'n.
The color band on the bottom of the masthead can be used to monitor the size shift. The smaller canvas size will be used when the band is gray or black; the red color band is the last time the larger canvas is used.
If you want to begin with a larger canvas, be sure the masthead color band isn't gray or black!
Some mobile browsers (such as Safari) do not support all of the user interactions Processing offers. A browser that works reliably is Chrome.
We've written many Python-Processing apps, but so far we have not found a good way to make them 'live' on the web.
In the meantime, we have wired up some movies showing them in all their glory, and have even attached 'source code' so you can see how they do what they do.
Note: Many of the apps here were inspired by the creators of Processing and their writings. Go to their site to see additional helpful resources.
