What is TTS?
TTS is short for: 'Two-Toned Square'. If you look carefully at a paused image, you will see that its made up of individual squares that are divided into 4 quadrants. On one diagonal, the quadrants have one tone (black) and the other is cycled through different hues as the app runs.
The effect is created by rotating each TTS while simultaneously changing its size using a sine function. Yea math!
The TTS was first introducted as a challenge in TNT's JSGrafix Sandbox and was used to create a nifty optical illusion described there.
With Processing p5JS, we couldn't resist the temptation (after creating the optical illusion) to animate the little critters.
We've gotten a lot of mileage out of that original optical illusion!
Use the nifty 'Pause' button and/or Click the canvas to pause/resume the animation.Column 1
